On Production with Madison Reading Project
For this shoot, we were supporting Madison Reading Project in their 3rd annual “READ(y) to Wear” fashion show with fashion-inspired portraits of the models and their team’s clothing designs. This behind-the-scenes video shows a bit from the production and what went into our setup.
We were working in a smaller meeting room at the Madison Concourse Hotel, working beside teams prepping the last pieces of their designs, all of which were created solely out of paper products. Madison Reading Project works to gets books to children and educators and through the paper-inspired clothing designs, they are able to bring more awareness to children in our community who don’t have access to quality books.
Our setup involved bringing in a compact wall setup with hardwood flooring as our on-location set. The intention for lighting was to have an open-and-vibrant configuration suitable for full-body portraits. Due to the ceiling height, we had to forego our first lighting option which included an overhead parabolic umbrella. I’d say we still achieved some nice results with our alternate lighting setup!
Big thanks to my good friend and fellow photographer, AJ Greisen, for shooting this video on production and helping assist with setup and tear down.
Finished Portraits
We took a ton of images and it was honestly pretty difficult to narrow down to one final image per model. It was a lot of fun working with all the models and their design teams. Enjoy the final results below!
