More than 500 students participating with the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra now have a beautiful, inspiring, and permanent space for rehearsal and camaraderie. Serving kids ages 5-18, the new building on East Washington Avenue sits in a vibrant arts neighborhood in downtown Madison and is poised to become a hub for youth arts in the city.
It’s 6:30 AM on the cusp of a short window of time to create as many beautiful and resonant images as possible. We only have access to our site interiors from 7-9 AM and we’re working to create a few exterior looks prior to this window. Peer inside to see the work we created.
With a mixture of educational spaces, offices, conference rooms, MEP systems, and laboratory space, ISU’s VDL offered a diverse selection for photography. The facility was on the precipice of students starting classes and we would not be permitted to photograph after that point, so we had a tight timeline for production and limited numbers of folks to include in our imagery. With the help of a few students and the production crew standing in, we were able show the function and scale of each space and how Strang’s design intent helped create an optimal educational VDL facility. Through a long history of design excellence dating back to 1898, FEH Design, headquartered in Iowa, continues to expand their presence in the Midwest with a beautiful redesigned office in the heart of Milwaukee.
FEH Design has trusted Crimson Sun Studios to capture and photograph their finished projects all across Wisconsin for a number of years, including libraries, public spaces, and businesses. It was a pleasure to photograph their beautiful new office in collaboration with FEH teammates Sarah Jansen and Brady Ludvic.
Bright and early, I arrive on-location meeting the marketing director and lead project architect from Iconica. We’re photographing Radiance Skin Therapy & Laser Center in Madison, WI. The space, formerly occupied by a restaurant, has been completely transformed through beautiful design and quality craftsmanship. The crew and I tour the space and build our shot list for what will get photographed. I see beautiful, bright walls, matte black accents, color gradients, an Andy Warhol selfie wall, captivating art, and countless other design elements that have all been brought together to create a welcoming, sophisticated space.
Jacknife is a new sushi restaurant in Madison featuring delicious and quick rolls, bowls, and more. The interiors feature unique artwork, graphics, and bold colors to draw the eye to the many creative design elements used within the space. I was hired to photograph the interiors by one of my favorite clients, Iconica, who did the buildout of the space for the restaurant owners (who also own the restaurant RED). The results are a beautiful, open space with natural light and room for guests to enjoy good food and good conversation.
