More than 500 students participating with the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra now have a beautiful, inspiring, and permanent space for rehearsal and camaraderie. Serving kids ages 5-18, the new building on East Washington Avenue sits in a vibrant arts neighborhood in downtown Madison and is poised to become a hub for youth arts in the city.
With a mixture of educational spaces, offices, conference rooms, MEP systems, and laboratory space, ISU’s VDL offered a diverse selection for photography. The facility was on the precipice of students starting classes and we would not be permitted to photograph after that point, so we had a tight timeline for production and limited numbers of folks to include in our imagery. With the help of a few students and the production crew standing in, we were able show the function and scale of each space and how Strang’s design intent helped create an optimal educational VDL facility.
